Your images and files
Every file you open in a Photoclay tool is read, processed, and saved entirely within your browser. We do not upload, receive, store, or have any means to view your images, their contents, or their metadata. Downloads are generated locally on your device.
Data stored on your device
Some features keep data locally in your browser. It is never sent to us:
- Your light/dark theme preference, in local storage.
- Tool settings and undo history for some tools, in IndexedDB, so an accidental tab close does not lose your work. This stores settings only — not your images.
- Cached website code and machine-learning models (via a service worker), so tools load quickly and work offline.
You can remove all of this at any time by clearing site data for this website in your browser settings.
Machine-learning models
Some tools download a model file the first time you use them. Most are served from this website; the background-removal and face-detection models may be fetched from their publishers’ content delivery networks (for example IMG.LY or Google). These requests download model files only — your images are never included — but, like any web request, they expose your IP address and browser details to the server that answers them.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages and tools are used. It collects standard usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, device, and browser type, and may set cookies to do so. It never receives your images or anything about their contents. You can opt out with a content blocker or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Contact form
If you use our contact form, the name, email address, and message you enter are sent to Web3Forms, the service that forwards them to our inbox. We use this information only to reply to you and do not add you to any mailing list. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your message.
Hosting
The website is served by Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. It only ever sees requests for the website’s own files, never your images.
Children
Photoclay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will never weaken the core promise that your images stay on your device.
